NZPPA offers a range of special topic live webinars in a 1.5-hour format. Participants will receive webinar notes an hour before the webinar, along with being able to submit questions during the webinar. If a question cannot be covered or a participant has an additional question, they will have the ability to send questions through to a dedicated email address after the webinar for up to a week after.

TERMINATION PAY

In this 1.5-hour webinar all aspects of an employee’s termination pay will be covered including:

  • Leave that is paid out on termination under the Holidays Act:
  • Annual holiday entitlement, taking leave on termination or having it paid out (how it is calculated).
  • Alternative holidays paid out.
  • Public Holidays after termination when annual holiday entitlement is extended on termination.
  • What payments are included and not included in the 8% on termination.
  • How the above types of leave are taxed?
  • Notice period (working out notice, payment in lieu, how calculated and how taxed)?
  • Deductions from an employee’s final pay (Wages Protection Act 1983).
  • Other agreed payments to be paid on termination.
  • Redundancy (how calculated and taxed).

HOW LEAVE PROVIDED UNDER THE HOLIDAYS ACT AND AGREED CAN BE USED DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

In this 1.5-hour webinar all aspects of how leave can be used and applied will be covered including:

  • Annual holidays (entitlement and in advance).
  • Accessing annual leave when sick or bereavement exhausted.
  • When annual leave must be reversed or not when sick and bereavement leave has happened while on or before annual holiday is taken.
  • Rules on paying out annual holiday entitlement.
  • Forcing employee to take annual holidays (Section 19 and Closedown).
  • Criteria for getting sick and bereavement leave.
  • Sick leave (paid, in advance and unpaid).
  • When a public holiday must be paid or not paid when on different types of leave.
  • Unpaid leave how is this treated?
  • Bereavement leave (paid and in advance).
  • Other types of agreed leave (additional annual leave, long service, special, discretionary).

Participants will also be provided with a set of template letters for the employer to provide an employee.
