Q: Can you please provide advice on the termination date for an employee made redundant while away on Parental Leave?
I can find information for when the employee chooses (resigns) not to come back to work, where the termination date becomes the first day of parental leave date.
But the clause on redundancy on the Employment NZ website doesn’t actually mention the termination date.
A: If the employee is made redundant, then it is the day they are informed their position is no longer valid (it is not the first day of parental leave, as that is about the employee not wanting to come back).
