Previous period of employment vs new period

Q: We have an employee who worked for us from Feb 2018 until May 2020 as an Adviser Support.

She then returned in April 2021 as an Associate Adviser
I see that the previous Payroll Officer, has created a new profile in our system for her. However, I was just wondering if we should merge the profiles to ensure her entitlements for Long Service Leave are correct or other leave dates are correct based on her initial start date?

A: If the employee terminated (final pay paid) in May 2020 and then came back as a new employee in April 2021 then all leave starts from April 2021.  Long service leave is not by law but by agreement so you need to follow what was agreed.
