Q: We are currently processing backpays and lump sum payments for our Nurses and HCA’s. We’ve had to reinstate terminated permanent and casual employees who are entitled to these payments. Once we process the payments – which will be done is separate payment batches, we will close the terminated employees
For casual employees they are entitled to receive 8% holiday on the backpay; but are they entitled to 8% holiday on the lump sum payment. This is a one off payment, not an agreed term
A: So there are two payments: backpay and a lump sum payment, what is the lump sum payment for?
Q: Yes 2 payments. One batch – backpay; the other batch lump sum payment which is the Nurses Pay Equity – it’s a 1 off payment. We processed this through our payroll system as a Lump Sum payment
A: The Nurses pay equity payment is this an agreed term from a CEA or MECA, if yes then it would have 8% applied.
