Q: What is the best way to pay staff for say a Doctors appointment? Staff member works til 2.30pm them goes to her appointment – do I pay 2.5hrs Sick or a day sick? Another staff member has a 1.30pm appointment leaving at 1pm and returns at 3.30pm? Suggestions please
A: Under the Holidays Act SL is based on days and not part days, so if they took a couple of hours of SL they could lose a whole day.
If the employer wants to do something better you can provide SL as hours and break the day down as such but up to the employer. The majority of employers do it this way.
