Annual leave rate post Parental Leave

Q: I have a question regarding the annual leave rate for an employee who has returned from Parental leave (LWOP).

I believe that AWE is calculated for this. Our ADP system does the greater of the AWE rate and normal transaction rate.

Which will be the transaction rate. E.g. AWE $33 and transaction $66 so the rate applied is $66.

A: If the employee earns any entitlement while on parental leave that entitlement if taken on their return is paid at AWE as OWP cannot be used.

Is ADP calculating entitlement earned before parental leave was taken as that would still be the greater of AWE and OWP.

Q: Thanks. I thought it would be the case but when I queried with ADP they said greater of AWE and OWP.

In this case if taking leave earned during parental leave the rate should be $33 not $66 which means she gets less than her normal pay.

Is this correct?

A: Yes the rate could be lower than their normal rate but this is a leave rate so yes that is correct.
