Q: We have a few employees who get paid for attending a staff meeting every fortnight. There are times when they consistently have the fortnightly meeting and other times when it’s not so consistent.
When paying annual leave should I be including the 4 week calculation as well as the average when looking at what to pay for annual leave?
A: Having one fortnightly meeting I not do believe is enough to warrant moving to a 4 week average. The value of the meeting is included in the AWE and a fortnightly meeting is not part of a week.
If they were working variable hours all the time then yes that would be a good reason that the 4 week average should be used.
