Govt to open ACC to competition

Thursday Oct 22, 2009

The Government will open ACC to competition after striking a deal that will see the ACT Party support proposed ACC legislation when it comes before Parliament next week. ACC Minister Nick Smith says it is the Government’s intention to work with ACT to open the ACC workers account to competition.

Act Party leader Rodney Hide will comment on his party’s support of the bill on at 4pm. Mr Smith announced the ACC changes last week and published a draft bill, but needed support from either ACT or the Maori Party to get a bare majority on a first reading.
