NZPPA NIGHT SCHOOL – Development Streams




What is NZPPA Night School?

We call it night school, but you can access and do the course in your development stream anytime that suits, we wanted to make your learning as flexible as possible, this is why you have up to three months to complete (you can complete it sooner or take the full 3 months).

There are three-night development streams: Payroll Technician, Payroll Practitioner, and Payroll Specialist (see the details of each programme below).

An additional benefit of the night school development streams is they are aligned to NZPPA Certification and by completing a stream the learner will have covered all the learning outcomes to undertake certification at the stream level.

What do you get in your night school course?

The three-night school development schemes provide the learner with the following:

  • 2 x eLearning NZPPA Certificate courses (with ongoing tutor support while doing each course).
  • As part of each eLearning course, you get provided a physical comprehensive course manual.
  • NZPPA eLearning courses are assessed courses (end of course assessment activity).
  • 2 x OnDemand Webinars (you can choose the topic from the NZPPA OnDemand Library).
  • Each OnDemand Webinar comes with comprehensive course notes.
  • 4 x 30-minute tutorials with a tutor on any aspect of the course with their tutor via ZOOM.
  • NZPPA Certification (initial assessment) for FREE.
  • On successful completion, the learner will receive an NZPPA Night School Course Certificate detailing what was undertaken in the development stream.

The Three-Night School Development Streams:

     1. Payroll Technician

Our first development stream suits a new payroll practitioner who is moving into a payroll role for the first time or has been processing payroll for up to 3 to 6 months.  This development stream aligns with NZPPA Certification, Certified Payroll Technician (Level 1).

Over the three months, the learner will cover (time involved included):

Estimate of total time involved to complete stream: 40 hours.

      2. Payroll Practitioner

Our second development stream suits an intermediate payroll practitioner who wants a payroll refresher or to further develop and reinforce their payroll skills. This development stream aligns with NZPPA Certification, Certified Payroll Practitioner (Level 2).

Over the three months, the learner will cover (estimated time involved included):

      3. Payroll Specialist

Our third development stream suits a senior payroll practitioner who wants to have a more in-depth understanding of key aspects of calculations and how they impact payroll. This development stream aligns with NZPPA Certification,  Certified Payroll Specialist (Level 3).

Prior NZPPA Training

If you have completed any of the NZPPA eLearning subjects included in a development stream in the last 6 months (successfully completed) you don’t have to do it again and can get 40% off that Development stream cost.

Cost of a Development Stream

The cost for a development stream is the same for each type:

  • NZPPA member: $1295 + GST
  • NZPPA non-member: $1495 + GST
