NZPPA CONTEST: “THE HOLIDAYS ACT DOES NOT WORK HERE”

Let’s have some fun with the act as it won’t change as no one has the courage to do so.

Prize: $500 gift card for the most creative photo of a position where the Holidays Act 2003 does not work.

Your photo must have the following words clearly displayed:

The Holidays Act does not work here

The act is an unworkable piece of legislation because:

payroll-toilet

  • For 12 years this act has been in place and there are still major issues for employers and payroll in trying to pay employees correctly, this is a ticking time bomb for many.
  • The act is to complex (it is easier to pay the salary or wage to an employee than pay an employee when they go on leave – just stupid).
  • Does not fit the wide variety of NZ workplaces that have employees working variable hours.
  • Comes with no support from government (MBIE)!
  • Has missed one of the principles for it being introduced in the first place being to “reduce compliance costs” as the time involved to manage this legislation is a drain on large and small employers compared to any other part of payroll.
  • Cannot easily be setup in a payroll system with confidence it is right all the time, with the calculations having to be checked rechecked and the constant fear for employers and payroll that it is wrong because no one will front up and state how to get it right.
  • There is no other country with a Holidays Act such as ours (that’s not a selling point for NZ it actually is a backwards step)

To get you going as such here is where the act belongs!!

We don’t want 60,000 toilet photos so be creative. Unless you can get a photo of PM’s golden toilet from the beehive, the Greens compost toilet or the all red communal toilet for Labour (please get a life and take that as a joke it is meant to be).

Only safe photos will be displayed in the section below. We won’t accept nudity so don’t bother sending it but we do accept the act is an arse!
