The NZPPA offers the following in regard to accreditation so members can be recognised in the industry.

  • Professional Payroll Practitioner (PNZPPA)
  • Associate Payroll Practitioner (ANZPPA)

There are two pathways to get NZPPA accreditation, they are:

  • 1. By attendance at NZPPA courses in payroll (*or related courses in payroll) and successfully completing the workplace assessments that are set (NZPPA Certificate courses based on NZQA standards)(see section below).

    OR
  • 2. Recognition of prior learning for an experienced payroll practitioner (a cost will be involved based on the amount of recognition that is being claimed)(see application below).

*Any related courses will need to be assessed by NZPPA before they are accepted.

Recognition of prior learning and experience

Some new or existing members will have vast experience in the payroll industry. It is not the intention of NZPPA for these members to undertake unnecessary training, but it is very important that anyone with NZPPA accreditation has a professional standing.

It is the aim of NZPPA that accredited members will become sought-after payroll professionals in the payroll industry, by recruitment agencies and employers.

If you wish to apply for recognition of prior learning and experience please complete the following form and forward with your evidence. If you have any questions please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You may be contacted to provide further evidence. If the accreditation application is not accepted you will be informed what areas require further evidence and a timeframe for when the application can be resubmitted.
